Lulubelle, Vern & Cleo Montgomery Fund

Lulubelle, Vern & Cleo Montgomery Fund “It looked like hell when we found it in 1969” said Lulubelle Montgomery after burying their grandmother in the Silverland Cemetery.  Lulubelle and Vern Montgomery, with support and encouragement from their mother (Lucy) and sister Cleo, decided to improve the cemetery.  They were appointed to the cemetery board and invested significant time and labour over the next 35 years to lovingly restore and maintain the cemetery.  In 2006, the Province of Ontario presented Lulubelle and Vern with Volunteer Service Awards for over thirty years of service.  When Lulubelle died in 2010, she left money, through a life insurance policy, to establish the Lulubelle, Vern and Cleo Montgomery Endowment Fund for the improvement and beautification of the Silverland Cemetery in Cobalt – a place which they loved and where they now rest.
