Scott & Ruby Wilson Fund

Ruby Wilson wanted to honour the memory of her husband and so after his death she established a named fund within the community fund. Scott was the eighth child born to Margaret & John Wilson who immigrated to Canada from Scotland in the early 1920’s. He received his schooling in New Liskeard but when World War II broke out he joined the Algonquin Regiment and trained in Camp Borden & Ipperwash. On his discharge from the army he went to Orangeville and worked as a builder and finishing carpenter. It was here he met his future wife Ruby Knowles. They married in July of 1947 and in September the same year moved to New Liskeard. He worked for Hill-Clark-Francis for fifteen years and as a patternmaker at the Wabi Iron Works for thirty one years. Through this time they raised two daughters Linda (Mrs. Allan Knight) and Crystal (Mrs. Rod Young).  When Scott died in January of 2005 he had four grandsons and three great grand children.
