Eileen Mitchell Thomas Scholarship Fund

Eileen Mitchell Thomas grew up in Cobalt and graduated from Cobalt High School in 1932. She was the daughter of George Mitchell, one of only a few lawyers in the region at that time. Eileen was one of three women who graduated from Osgoode Law School in 1940. She went on to become a senior lawyer in Ottawa, well- known for her professional success and her activities in support of women in the law.  She died in 2007 after a long illness and her daughters wanted to set up a fund to provide a scholarship to support students from Cobalt pursuing post secondary education. A flow through scholarship of $500 will be given out in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
