Robert and Margaret Pollock (Swastika) Memorial Fund

John A. Pollock established this fund in memory of his parents.

Margaret (Fawcett) Pollock taught school in Swastika in 1920 and was the school's first female principal. After marrying Robert Pollock she spent the rest of her life in Swastika where she raised 6 children.

Robert Pollock emigrated from Ireland to Swastika in 1909 and spent the rest of his life in the area as a prospector. He was on the original council in Kirkland Lake and contributed in the early years to the formation of the town.

Income from this fund will be used for two scholarships. One for a Grade 8 student from Swastika who writes the best essay "Why I like being a Canadian". And the second to a graduate of KLCVI proceeding to Queen's University.
